The ‘50s

The Origins
The origins of Cartiere del Polesine S.p.A. date back to the 1950s, when the company was already active in the packaging paper sector with the production of straw paper.
1960

1960s–1970s

From straw paper to recovered paper
The company’s activity gradually expanded, reaching a daily production of 130 tons. During this period, a gradual transition began toward the exclusive use of recovered paper as raw material, marking the start of an important process of transformation and sustainability.
1980

1980s

100% Secondary Raw Materials
At the beginning of the 1980s, the use of straw was completely abandoned in favor of secondary raw materials from separate waste collection and packaging recovery.
1986

1986

Loreo Plant
With the acquisition of the Loreo plant in 1986 by the Scantamburlo family, long active in the recovered paper sector, the company entered a new phase. Management immediately introduced a strong drive toward innovation and development: the two paper machines were completely renovated and continuous-cycle production was adopted, marking a significant entrepreneurial turning point.
1999

1999

Start-up of PM3
Industrial expansion continued with the start-up of PM3 in 1999, a new production facility located in the equipped industrial area of the Municipality of Adria, which made it possible to increase production capacity.
2004

2004

Start-up of PM4
Five years later, in 2004, PM4 was launched, leading to a further increase in production volumes and an expansion of the product range, particularly in the different types of Testliner, with which the company entered the market even more competitively.
2012

2012

A New Headquarters
The year 2012 marked another milestone in the company’s growth with the construction of a new building designed to host technical, administrative, and management offices, reflecting the company’s organizational development. In addition to production capacity, the supporting plant systems also underwent significant evolution. A wastewater treatment plant was built to serve both factories, along with two additional cogeneration plants besides the existing one in Loreo, allowing the company to cover almost all of its internal energy needs.

Roots and Future
Cartiere del Polesine S.p.A. is still owned by the Scantamburlo brothers, now joined in management by their children. With a daily production of around 850 tons, the company is able to compete with the main European players and continues to grow by leveraging innovation and sustainability, confirming its position as one of the most solid and specialized industrial companies in the packaging paper sector.
Today

Loreo

The Loreo factory has been used for production right from the start. It is made up of two PMs (PM 1 and PM 2).

The production site covers around 30,000 m2, of which 10,000 m2 are buildings, and is found in the centre of Loreo (RO), a quiet town in the Basso Polesine area.

Over the course of time production lines have been periodically updated in order to maintain competitiveness. The most recent modernization has affected pulp preparation and energy

Cavanella Po - Adria

The Cavanella Po building is found on an industrial estate near the town of Adria (Adria Industrial Area – AIA) and houses the PM3 and the PM4, which are of recent manufacture and thus technologically advanced.

The Adria production unit is also the largest: it covers 150,000 m2 in total, of which 35,000 m2 are buildings. This factory was built with respect for the local environment in mind and the strongest anti-pollution measures were taken to prevent pollution and to protect the health and safety of employees.

The new headquarter, since 2012, hosts comfortable and contemporary offices where the administrative, technical and sales personnel operate.
